Team News
Striker Sergio Agüero is in contention for Manchester City's opening Premier League game of the season against Newcastle on Monday after overcoming a knee injury.

Defender Matija Nastasic is missing due to an ankle injury but is expected to return to training next week.

New signings Fernandinho, Jesús Navas, Alvaro Negredo and Stevan Jovetic could all be involved.

Match Notes
Manuel Pellegrini has successfully avoided the spotlight since replacing Roberto Mancini as Manchester City manager this summer, but the Chilean will be in the full glare when he begins his reign at the Etihad Stadium on Monday.

While rivals have toiled in the transfer market, Pellegrini has done his business early and City appear settled and stable as they attempt to reclaim the Premier League title.

Newcastle, meanwhile, appear the polar opposite and Alan Pardew’s main concerns may be the people above him rather than events on the pitch.

Betting: Home 2-7, Away 9-1, Draw 9-2.

Stat of the game: City are unbeaten in 13 against Newcastle home and away, winning the last seven.

Mark Ogden's prediction: Manchester City 3 Newcastle United 0.
