Umar Akmal will miss the ODIs and T20s in Zimbabwe

Pakistan wicket-keeper Umar Akmal will miss the One-Day Internationals and Twenty20 Internationals in Zimbabwe.

The hard-hitting batsman is currently in the West Indies where he has been playing for the Barbados Tridents but has recently suffered a back injury.

Sarfraz Ahmed, more of a specialist wicket-keeper than Akmal, has been named as his replacement for the two Twenty20 games and three ODIs.

"Pakistan Cricket Board received the confirmation from West Indies today about Umar Akmal not being medically fit," a statement from the board confirmed.

"He has immediately been called back and will undergo complete medical examination to reassess the level of his fitness.

"Meanwhile National Selection Committee has proposed the name of Sarfraz Ahmad as his replacement for Pakistan ODI and T20 squads for the upcoming tour of Zimbabwe."

Sarfaz has played four Tests, 23 One-Day Internationals and two Twenty20 Internationals for Pakistan, his most recent ODI being against Sri Lanka in 2012.

His two Twenty20 appearances came against England in 2010.
